Welcome to my Sisterlock Hair Journey!

Welcome to my blog and thank you for visiting. I have been natural for 2.5 years and I started my sisterlock journey on Sat, June 12, 2010. I am so excited about my journey and the newfound freedom that I now have. I only have one favor to ask, please do not copy my photos without my permission.

Thank you:)

One YEAR!

Wow, ONE YEAR already?? Can you believe it? So where should I start? I haven't posted since March so let me get caught up on what's new...

My locs are now ONE YEAR old and looking back at my pics from last year, I can definitely say I see a difference in my hair. The length of course and the texture has changed a bit. My hair is still not fully locked...(getting a little impatient) but still just taking it one day at a time. For some reason, my ends are still loose and because of that, I'll continue to use the starter SL shampoo. I'm hoping this shampoo will help my ends get with the program..lol. Normally, after at least a year, people move on to some other Green Tea or some sort of moisturizing shampoo. I'll stick with the "Getting Started" shampoo until my ends lock. I wash my hair about once a week and the only other products I've been using are the Natural Wonders products. My favorites are the Peppermint Mist and the Dry and Itchy Scalp. I am continuing to retighten my hair myself...a little "bunching" going on, but besides that, all is good.
As my hair continues to grow and change, will post more pics soon!

Besides my hair....I MUST mention something that I have discovered recently that I happen to REALLY enjoy and happens to be one of the highlights of my day:) RUNNING!! I participated in my 1st 5K race last month for the Mableton Day 5K in Mableton, GA.

I completed the race in....47 min!! Now, hey, don't judge me, that may have been long, but I was just happy to FINISH (and my friend and I were not the last:)

I have never been a fan of running, I have always been more of a walking on a treadmill or elliptical machine chick. However, I have been told that once I start running outdoors...I would get hooked. How true is that?? It's for real...I am having a fab time at it. Running is a great way to have some quality time with yourself, leave all the stress of LIFE behind you, listen to music while you run, or just have a one on one talk with God or just gather your thoughts on what you need to do for the day, the night, or even the week! Did I mention it's a great way to get in shape and live a much healthier lifestyle?:) The list is never ending... Btw, I'm soooooooooo loving these SL right now!
Oh! There was an article on the race as well...check me out in action!!! :-)

This Saturday, I'll be participating in my 2nd Race, the 4th Annual Atlanta HBCU Alumni Alliance Race. Did I attend an HBCU? Um..no. I graduated from the University of Wisconsin, but my amazing sister graduated from SPELMAN last month, soooooo I'll be representing the ladies of Spelman of course...afterall...I'm a "Spelman Sister" :)

My goal is to complete this race in 35 min! We shall see if I make that happen...

Actually, I have confidence..I WILL make that happen! Byyyeee!
